Kare wa subete o tebanashita.
He let go of everythingâ
his name, his home, even his shadow.
Only hunger kept calling to him,
wearing down his heart night after night.
Each time he whispered gratitude before eating,
the world faded a little more,
and in its place an eternal plate appeared before him.
The plate had no end.
The more he ate, the more he was filled,
and the more he was filled, the more he hungered.
He dropped his last possession,
abandoned his final wish,
and placed himself at an eternal table.
A quiet voice echoed: âIs this a blessing, or a punishment?â There was no answerâonly the plate shining back at him.
